Many of you know that I had half of my left lung removed due to a neuroendocrine tumor.  This is the same kind of cancer Steve Jobs had.  I was misdiagnosed for 12 years because most doctors seen to think that if you are a woman and don't smoke, you won't get lung cancer!  Unfortunately, most doctors still don't know anything about this and some think the tumors are benign!  The incidence of this cancer is becoming more and more common.  So it is very important to raise awareness and get treatments approved.

The doctor in the picture with me is Eric Liu, M.D.  He is a surgial oncologist, but has adopted "lungnoids"  because we really did not have specialists until just a very few years ago.  He spent three years in Sweden studying with the best specialists in the world before starting his practice in the U.S.  He is dedicated to finding a cure.  But money for rare diseases is difficult to come by.  

That is the reason for this fundraiser.  I hope you will consider contributing.  If I am the top fundraiser, Dr. Liu will travel here from Denver to become Chef Liu and prepare a meal for me and 10 guests.  Some my guests will be doctors I have seen before finding Dr. Liu.  We did not have a specialist in the whole DFW area until a couple of years ago, so I have had to do a great deal of traveling to get my checkups with Dr Liu.  So I want to invite these doctors to meet him and improve the treatment/follow up situation here.  

So again, please consider contributing!  You may someday have or know someone with this disease!
